Believe it or not the first 30 seconds can actually make or break an interview. Psychological studies have shown that it takes just 30 seconds to create a connection as 93% of a person's communication is determined through non-verbal means. Confidence and being at ease with yourself and the situation will show through your body language and how you handle yourself in what can be a stressful situation.
An interviewer can make a decision about you in the first five minutes, if they do so they often then spend the rest of the interview reaffirming that their initial assessment is correct. It is therefore vital that you create a positive atmosphere from the outset.
